Olaf Rude

History of the artist

Olaf Rude (1886-1957) was a Danish painter and a central figure in Danish modernism. His works are characterized by their use of bright colors and a luminous, almost impressionistic style, often featuring landscapes, figures, and nature.

Rude was a member of the Grønningen artists’ association and received multiple honors, including the Eckersberg Medal. His work has had a significant influence on Danish art and is represented in museums such as the National Gallery of Denmark (Statens Museum for Kunst) and ARoS.
