Edward Weie (1879-1943) was a Danish painter and a central figure in early 20th-century Danish modernism. Influenced by French Impressionism and Expressionism, Weie’s works are characterized by luminous landscapes and portraits. He used color in a lyrical and almost musical way, giving his paintings a unique, atmospheric quality. Weie was a member of the artist group Grønningen and received significant recognition during his lifetime, playing a key role in the development of Danish landscape painting.
